At it's apogee, Rome turned into a metropolis with almost 1 million residents. For centuries, it grew constantly, until it became a labyrinth of narrow and large streets. The Roman architects studied Greek architecture and adopted some of it's features (doric, ionic and corinthian colunmns) or simply improved it. That is exactly what I tried to model in this scene. The buildings could very well be the headquarters of a courthouse, a library or a theatre, and an amphitheatre (host of battles between men or even man and animal) can also be seen far away in the background.
