In the early eighties, Britain seemed to be on the brink of civil war. Riots had kicked off in Brixton, Birmingham and Liverpool. City centre shops were boarded up and 'To Let' signs from the walls. Industrial buildings previously abandoned were occupied and in the 1984 Joe Rush formed Mutoid Waste Company with the aim of making art and furniture from scrap metal inside.

Rising from the wastelands, massive pieces became totems and welded robots.

In 1989, after a number of police raids on their warehouse in King's Cross, they left the country for Europe and set up a scrap village called Mutonia in Italy.

With this render I used my imagination to recreate an evolution of the Mutoid creative salvage world. The shot represents Mutoid sculptures that autonomously assemble vehicles in the warehouse with cyborg dogs patrolling the area.
