The history of this car begins in 1937; Several European manufacturers are given a challenge: build a vehicle to race from Berlin to Rome but the competition canceled because of World War II. During the war, the Streamliner was sold to Dunlop tire manufacturer, which served as the track to test its products. After the war, the car returned to Mercedes-Benz, where the body was dismantled. Later, the original chassis was rediscovered. Reconstruction of this car began in 2013 and Mercedes-Benz 540k Streamliner back to life after 76 years.
