Scrap Collector

In this vision of the future, the earth's native metal deposits have been all but depleted. Looking for scrap materials and recycling has become an essential occupation. The owner of this vehicle - an upcycled, upgraded Japanese military truck - has made this necessity into a lucrative business by exploring the abandoned areas surrounding humanity's many megacities.

This scene was inspired by the many scrap metal collectors in my neighborhood patrolling the streets on an almost daily basis in their flatbed trucks, playing the same repetitive words through their speakers: old iron, copper, lead and zinc, flat batteries, car wrecks,... and so on. I always thought this had a slightly dystopian ring to it, so it made for a nice subject for this contest.
