The School Run

If McLaren were to make a last minute entry into the 2020 Dakar Rally, I'd like to think it would look something like this. The idea for this piece came from the current SUV boom; it seems everybody wants to be king of the road and tower above other road users in the most ostentatious vehicle they can find. And what do they do with all this off-road capability that designers have worked on tirelessly to produce? They drive in the city, mainly commuting and doing the school run. That's what I've tried to capture with this piece. A completely outrageous off-road supercar that's parked up in a side street, next to the local school waiting for their son. I wanted to add a positive twist into the image so made the vehicle dirty, suggesting that this family are bucking the trend and actually use their car for some serious off-road fun at weekends!
