The Old Faithful

To me, the 1911 in all its variations has always been the most iconic handgun when it comes to movies, comics and games. But only during this project I really came to appreciate its classic design ( Research is part of the fun, yea? :) ). A desing so brilliant that it still holds its ground pretty much unchanged, over 100 years after its creation. That excact feel I wanted to capture in this image: Old and worn, yet fully functional and reliable. I chose the WW2-style 1911A1 for this piece, because I think it captures the feel perfectly.Created in blender 2.7 and rendered with cycles, photoshop for textures and post processing. Post-pro. included color correction, cinema-bars and texts.
