Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do and how did you become a 3D artist?

Hello everyone, my name is Suqinlee and I am from China. I am 25 years old and have been working in design for 8 years. I was doing graphic design at first and then came into contact with 3D design by chance. I fell in love with this very creative way of working and turned around as a 3D designer. Currently, I am an independent designer, working on any project that interests me.

What was the workflow behind your latest challenge image? Where did the idea come from?

I pay attention to every Hum3d competition and analyze the conditions required for excellent work. I think a good story is very important. At first, I tried to find inspiration from life. I found an abandoned one when I was shopping. Although the garden is abandoned by humans, it is accepted by nature and exists more harmoniously. I want to express this form in my works, showing a quiet and vital scene. Afterward, I started to turn on the computer to collect as much information as possible to make an emotional version. After confirming the details, I started to use Cinema4d for scene design and car modeling. Since what I want to express is a garden that has been abandoned for many years. I designed the car in a retro and cute shape. After the modeling is completed, I use Quixel’s plant assets to increase the richness of the picture and use Substance 3D Painter to draw textures. Finally, I use octane for picture rendering.

What challenges did the image creation? Did you learn something new?

The biggest challenge is to make realistic materials and rendering effects because usually, my design style is more cartoonish, but in this competition, I decided to change myself and break through myself!

How often do you do personal projects and keep your portfolio up-to-date? Which one is your favorite?

Ideally, I hope to have a set of personal works every 3 months. As for commercial projects, they are always in progress. Depending on the size of the project, it may be a few days or a few months. My favorite work is Four Seasons With You, which I created for my girlfriend. You can see it on my Behance.
