– Tell us a little bit about yourself.

29year old senior 3d designer working in the graphic design industry. I have now been working in 3D professionally for around 7 years. Prior to that had a background in product design at University. This gave me the understanding of how things are built, which I find enhances details in the 3D models I create now.

– Where did you find the inspiration for your latest entry?

A lot of images and feeds from social media have been catching my eye showcasing clay modeling from the automotive industry. The level of skill involved and the way something can change live in front of you captured my imagination.

– Could you please show us any additional images from the work process with a short description.

– Please tell us your five short tips for creating realistic renders?

  1. 1) Keep the models clean but detailed. Every bit of detail helps the final render ping. Paintwork looks more realistic with clean and detailed models.

  2. 2) Plan ahead. Time can be lost on rushing to the final render. Try to hold off until your model is just right.

  3. 3) Pick your render engine in the planning stage. If its Vray RT you need to be aware of the advantages and disadvantages :)

  4. 4) Post Process. Use the full scope of layers to your advantage. AO is a must but experiement with all render elements to get your end realism.

  5. 5) Keep pushing past what you think you can do. Benchmark your skills in this competition and push forward. Time and dedication is whats needed to polish your end result.

– Could you please share more of your works? Which one is your favorite and why?

I’m currently working on a vast personal project seen here and here. This is my favorite current project because I’m trying to push how much detail I can get in to some arch vis stills while I capture the story behind them. This also uses a past car model created for the competition.

Here is another detailed animation I created a few years back.

P.S. We also would like to mention that Kevin took third place in the Most Legendary Car Render Competition with amazing work “My childhood perspective”.
