We're inviting 3D artists to create an immersive and visually stunning 3D rendering of an industrial environment in a science fiction world.
Your goal is to design and create a highly detailed and atmospheric environment, rich with elements of science fiction and industrial design. Your scene could be set in Space, on a space station, in a massive manufacturing plant, a power station or a high-tech space refinery. We're looking for a scene that feels like it's straight out of a science fiction film - full of intricate machinery, dark and moody lighting, and plenty of technological detail to capture the viewer's imagination.
You'll need to pay close attention to small details such as the texture of machinery, the subtle glow of control panels and the way light reflects off polished metal surfaces. You'll also need to think about the larger elements of the environment, such as the layout of the machinery, spaceships and the architecture of the building.
We're looking for a scene that tells a story and captures the viewer's imagination. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Share your art and chat with other artists - we are sure that creative and friendly atmosphere of the competition will help the growth of each participant. See previous challenges >
We receive your works from March 21 to June 7 (inclusive). Submissions end at 15:00 (GMT). For your convenience we have set the timer on the page, but don't forget to update it. The competition has one general category.
Create a detailed and atmospheric environment, with elements of science fiction and industrial design. We're looking for a scene that feels like it's straight out of a science fiction film - full of intricate machinery, dark and moody lighting, and plenty of technological detail to capture the viewer's imagination.
Your scene may contain any vehicles, characters, buildings, be outdoor or indoor on your choice.
Your entry must be a 3d rendered image. Environment should be made in 3D. We permit the use of HDRi (for example, download from CGI Backgrounds) for sky and some small parts of landscape. No texture/polycount limit.
Renders with one color background (black, white etc), test renders, not completed pixelated and low quality renders, screenshots and models laid on wallpapers or on photos will not be admitted to take part in the competition. As well as works with adult content: not allowed works with blood, violence, erotic and political topics.
Using of third-party assets or pre-made models is allowed.
Enhancing your rendering in post is allowed – That includes things like color adjustments, compositing render layers/passes, and adding effects like smoke, fire, particles, etc. Adding photographic elements (like cut out characters or vegetation) or doing paintovers or photobashing is not allowed.
The render must be made for the challenge and not have been previously published anywhere.
Your entry can be created by one artist or a group. You can submit only one work: one final render and one clay/wire render of the scene.
Please, provide your work with a short story, describe the image.
Attach one wireframe or clay render of a full scene to your work.
Add the name or URL of the competition in one of the image corners. You can add your name and title of the work as well. Emails, logos, phone numbers are not allowed.
The render should be at least 1500 pixels wide if the work is horizontal.
Render size should not exceed 2 mb and should be in .JPG format.
Work can be in any style you like (low-poly, cartoon, futuristic etc), with using post production.
How to submit: Use the submission form and the "Add work" button to submit your entry before the deadline.
The work can be updated during the competition. The only condition - you can not change the idea of the work, or modify it drastically. Only reasonable changes allowed.
You can correct the description and the list of tools after the work was submitted - just contact us.
After your work is published on the competition page, you are free to share your work on other websites and social networks. Don't forget about the hashtag, so we could Like and share it too.
You can see previous competitions here and "Hall of fame" here.
After sending the work via the contact form you will receive within one business day a confirmation letter with a link to a page in the competition gallery. If you don't receive the letter, please contact us.
Within one week after the competition ends the jury will determine the winners and we will publish the results. We will estimate the idea of your work, visual component, atmosphere and total amount of the work done.
Waiting eagerly for your work!
