City of God

The Story I'm trying to tell on a platonic level is of the changes in religion at the foothold of Christianity in it's early days and it's concequences of dramatic and drastic change to Roman culture: A roman centurion, wouded in battle, chooses to spend his last moments with his diety, a Christian priest is pleading with him to accept his "salvation" in his last breath. The nearly dead Roman soldier symbolises Rome as we know it today and what we remember Rome to be; an Imperial Empire. The Priest symbolisesChristianity and it's hesitant progress. The Staue of the Roman goddess (Minerva, goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industries and trades, and one of the Dii Consentes) in the background symbolises the Rome that eventually got left behind, It also acts as a reminder of the beauty and prowess of Rome and her rich history.
